has he said and shall he not do it? has he spoken and shall he not make it good?  Numbers 23:19

Dear Friends of Faith House-

I could not be more excited and happy to share this wonderful news with you!!!

Several weeks ago we were contacted by a wonderful couple who is planning to move south.  Their desire for the home where they raised their children, and have lived for over 30 years, was that it would be used for ministry.  The home is in a quiet neighborhood near Kingston, will accommodate 4 young mothers, and has a separate apartment for our live-in staff.  It is in great condition but will need some work to customize it for our mission.  Our offer was accepted and we are looking forward to closing on this house in August!.  Your prayers on behalf of young, pregnant women who desperately need a safe place have borne fruit!

Because of your previous generous and faithful giving, most of the funds needed are already in place.   An additional $50,000 towards the purchase price, closing costs and renovations is needed by August 1.  Because of the humbling dedication you have shown in bringing this vision to fruition, I know that together we can meet this need, and thank you in advance for rising to this challenge.  I am deeply grateful to all of you who have stood in faith through the ups and downs of the past few months, continuing to believe and continuing to sacrifice financially.  We would not be where we are today without you.  Now is the time to pull together to bring in this additional $50,000 so that Faith House can open its doors.  Our first mothers and babies are just around the corner!  What an exciting time to be involved with such a life-saving and life-changing mission!

AND MORE GOOD NEWS!!!

A very generous donor with a heart to see this ministry soar has come forward with a $20,000 gift!! He has asked to remain anonymous, but wants his donation to serve as achallenge to others.  Are you one of 20 people with a heart to see lives saved and transformed who will accept this challenge by giving $1000 to join in his generosity?  One of 40 who will give $500?  Please click below to donate online, or mail a check to the address below.  Thank you so much for your commitment to providing hope and the promise of a new life to these young mothers and babies!

Join with us in thanking and praising the Lord  for his faithfulness and provision! With Him nothing is impossible!   As we go forward I will keep you posted on our progress.  After the closing, we will be able to accept material donations and will need additional volunteers for various projects to ready the house for opening.  As we begin to hire staff and put key elements of the program in place, your consistent monthly gifts are even more essential.  Please consider making a monthly commitment to support the ongoing needs of the home.  Thank you all for everything you continue to do to bring this vision to reality!

In Christ,

March 2018 Newsletter

Dear Friends and Supporters–

About a year ago, you came together in a tremendous showing of support to purchase a house in Kingston that would become home to young pregnant women who needed a safe place to live and the hope of a different future.  Because of you all, sufficient funds were raised to purchase that home in cash.  Many of you  generously began giving monthly, and many others offered their time and talents to prepare and furnish the home to welcome these young women.  Your unfailing support has been so encouraging and uplifting to us.  Thank you so much for walking with us in faith.  We learned, recently, however, that the owner of that home has had a change of heart and we will not be going forward with that purchase.  While this is an adjustment, we know that the Lord is in control and we trust that his plans for Faith House will come to fruition in his time.  The word spoken by the Lord does not return void, but accomplishes its intended purpose.  We have resumed our search for a suitable home and trust that we will be able to share good news soon.  Please continue to pray for the Lord’s provision and guidance.  We appreciate your continuing support through this time.

When we began this ministry 4 years ago, we set out on a journey with one intention– to be faithful to the call and vision the Lord has given us.  It is in that spirit that we persevere and trust him.  It is also towards that end that I recently resigned my full-time position as a nonprofit administrator to become the first Executive Director of Faith House.  I am very grateful to now be able to dedicate all my efforts towards opening this home and ministering to the many women and babies that will one day live there.  A big thank you to the Faith House Board of Directors for countless hours of discussion, prayer, and hard work, and to all of you, our faithful volunteers and donors, who have given so much of yourselves towards this mission.  We absolutely would not have come this far without each of you.  One of my initial goals is to meet and get to know more of you; I will be reaching out to schedule time to get together. So, we press on in faith, knowing that the Lord has great things in store!

In Christ,

Welcome new Board member Pete Maraday!

We are so excited that Pete has joined our Board! Pete and his wife Barb are longtime volunteers and have brought so much to Faith House! In addition to serving on our Banquet Committee last year, Pete was instrumental in establishing our relationship with the Lighthouse Events. You may remember Pete and Barb from our banquet video last year. Pete cares deeply about providing alternatives for women facing unplanned pregnancies and seeks to further the prolife cause through “education, guidance and support that is built on a foundation of love and caring through Jesus Christ.” Pete served over 20 years in the US Air Force and currently works as a tech support analyst, giving him a solid foundation in organizational management. He is active in the leadership and other ministries of Bread of Life Assembly of God in Bullville. Says Pete, “I hope to be able to use my time and talents God has blessed me with towards assisting the Board in completing the work at hand and seeing our mission through.”. We are so happy to have you, Pete! Thanks for everything you have done and for your heart to serve!

2nd Annual Faith House Fundraising Banquet

On Thursday, September 21st, Faith House held its second annual Fundraising Banquet at Villa Borghese in Wappingers Falls and raised over $51,000 in donations and pledges!

It was a beautiful night with 156 guests in attendance, live worship provided by Divine Pursuit, an inspiring video highlighting Faith House supporters, shot and edited by videographer Brian Tuthill, and, of course, a moving key note by our speaker, Monica Kelsey.

Our photographer, Nidya Lloyd, did a wonderful job of capturing the evening. Please take the time to peruse our photos from the night, click to scroll through. You can also view the Faith House Supporters video below.

Summer Newsletter

Hello Faith House friends! Thank you for all the support you have shown to move us closer to purchasing the home in Kingston! Your generosity has raised about $70,000 in cash towards the $150,000 purchase price!

An inspection has been completed. We are so blessed and grateful to be joined by Stephen Whalen of Whalen Architecture, PLLC and Gerard Pisanelli, Esq., who are donating necessary legal and architectural services to plan for needed renovations and address zoning issues. Many of you have also come forward to offer many other services ranging from carpentry work, plumbing and painting to landscaping and HVAC. Thank you so much! It is so encouraging to see our community come together to build this home! Meanwhile, pregnant women continue to reach out for help. We are convinced more than ever of the need for Faith House in our community. Because of your commitment to reaching out to the “least of these” among us, the vision is becoming reality! As the leadership of Faith House continues to seek the Lord’s direction in all decisions to be made, we are grateful for all of you who believe in this mission and are praying with us! “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” Psalm 127:1

Praising God for all He has done,

Finding a House for Faith House

We are actively looking for a place to call home for Faith House.

We are working closely with a realtor who has been tirelessly sending us potential properties, and driving all over the Hudson Valley to show us homes we think might serve the ministry well.

We are looking for a house that can accommodate at least 4 women and their babies, as well as a space for houseparents.

We recently made our first offer on a house, but we were outbidded, and so our offer was not accepted. This is why we continue to fundraise, and to seek the support of those who believe in this vision. The more money we have to offer as a down payment, the stronger our negotiating position will be. We are, of course, always hoping that someone will make the ultimate donation, and give us as house.

Please consider donating toward the purchase of a house so we will no longer need to turn desperate mothers away when they call.

Building Faith House by Faith

Faith House was born of a calling that began several years ago as a vague desire to offer pregnant teens and young women a tangible alternative to abortion.

I knew it was not enough to advocate against abortion when so many women facing an unplanned pregnancy do not see any alternatives. They may have little emotional and financial support and feel hopeless and completely unprepared to raise a child or even to carry the pregnancy to term and make an adoption plan. As I got older, I could not put this calling off any longer and I began researching types of support available to pregnant women. I knew we had to offer housing but had not even heard the term “maternity home” even 2 years ago. I discovered a wonderful, supportive network of maternity homes throughout the country who were putting their faith into action by standing with women facing a difficult situation and providing concrete services to help them adjust to motherhood. I began reaching out to pregnancy support centers, social service agencies and other community organizations and learned that there are no maternity homes in the mid-Hudson Valley. Everyone I spoke with confirmed that there is a tremendous need. Many women go through pregnancy without a safe place to live. I began sharing this vision for a maternity home with others from my church, Abundant Life Tabernacle in Kingston , NY, and others joined in the effort to create a nurturing home where young women could learn to be mothers in a loving, family environment. Although we are not yet open, we have already received many calls from women in need which only confirms that Faith House is needed in our community. These women have ranged from ages 16 to 29, 3 months pregnant to 9 months. All have lost their housing for one reason or another and all care deeply about the child they are carrying. We want to show these young mothers that they are not alone- that we will walk with them through the joys and trials of pregnancy, childbirth and young motherhood. We will help them to get to where they need to be to be strong mothers.

Faith House began as a ministry of Abundant Life Tabernacle. In October 2015 we incorporated as a free-standing nonprofit and obtained 501(c)(3) tax exempt status.

Please join us in bringing this vision to life. You will impact many generations.
